What's going on with Brian Wilson?

Sadly, Brian Wilson, the legendary co-founder, songwriter, and producer of The Beach Boys, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 82.


His family announced his death on his social media accounts, expressing their heartbreak and asking for privacy during their time of grief.


In early 2024, it was publicly revealed that Brian Wilson had been diagnosed with dementia, and court filings indicated he was suffering from a "major neurocognitive disorder."3 Following the death of his wife, Melinda Ledbetter Wilson, in January 2024, a conservatorship was established to ensure his care.


His last public appearance was in May 2024, at the premiere of the Disney+ documentary "The Beach Boys" in Hollywood. He attended in a wheelchair and received a standing ovation from his bandmates and the audience.


Brian Wilson leaves behind an incredible musical legacy, widely recognized for his genius in transforming pop music with complex harmonies and innovative production. Tributes have been pouring in from across the music industry, with many calling him an "American Mozart" and a "tortured genius" whose music will live forever.
